Core Psychotherapy acknowledges that our offices, located in the city known as Ottawa, are on the unceded, unsurrendered Territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation which surrounds the Kitchissippi (Big River), now commonly known as the Ottawa River. The Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation were the original inhabitants and guardians of this territory and we deeply respect their longstanding relationship with this land.
We recognize the inherent trauma of colonialism and colonization. We understand that colonial structures are upheld by our presence on these stolen lands. We acknowledge past and present abuse and cultural genocide of Indigenous Peoples resulting in intergenerational trauma and its lasting impacts.
In our practice, we commit to continued learning and honouring Indigenous clients experiences, both past and present. We hope to support a process that builds resilience and self-compassion, thereby enabling connection to an authentic self that guides movement toward true healing and shared reconciliation.
