We are a group of Registered Psychotherapists (RP’s) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and Canadian Certified Counsellors (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). Having worked together since 2013, we share similar approaches in working with our clients.
To learn more about us, please read our biographies below:
I have been working in the field since 1997, first in Toronto, and then as our young family was growing, for 7+ years at the Royal Ottawa Hospital in their Substance Use and Concurrent Disorders Program. I had long dreamed of working in private practice and restarted my studies in the Masters of Counselling Psychology program at the University of Ottawa.
Notably, during this period, I worked as an Associate at the Men’s Project seeing individuals and conducting group therapies for trauma survivors. In 2006 I was invited and mentored into private practice by 2 well loved colleagues, where we conducted 3 group therapies together in the areas of addiction and disordered eating and sexual compulsion; as well I saw individual clients. In 2010 I trained in couples therapy and began work in this capacity, which to this day, I find very rewarding.
Today my areas of specialty include adult survivors of childhood trauma and compulsive behaviours such as substance and sex. I see clients with a variety of difficulties with mood including anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder. In addition, I see folks who need help with anger management, relationship, separation and divorce issues. I am very comfortable working with different family members to help them navigate challenging terrain in a thoughtful and caring way. I do not however see clients under 18 years of age.
In general, I prefer to work collaboratively with my clients to address their needs and find positive outcomes. I work in an eclectic manner and pull from a wide variety of resources and tools. I allow my clients’ needs to guide me to the most fitting and beneficial methods for each. In most recent years, I see that becoming a friend to our nervous systems is a valuable resource; vital in choosing healthy and balanced pathways to wellbeing. To this end, I have trained extensively in somatic experiencing (SE). I have a background in emotion-focussed therapy (EFT), schema work, attachment-related therapy and other modes of practice. Because we as humans are social beings, I find much of my work to be relational, meaning the use of a mutually respected alliance between client and therapist. Here we can explore alternatives that will aid each person in achieving lasting emotional health and mental health in relation to the self, and all areas of life.
Originally from the Maritimes, I have worked locally in the field of mental health since graduating in 2006 from the Masters in Educational Counselling program at the University of Ottawa. Starting in 2008, my professional experiences became focused on trauma treatment and in 2010, I opened my Private Practice. Although an area of specialization is working with men whom identify as survivors of sexual trauma and/or childhood sexual abuse, I work with all gender identities. Issues I may be able to help you address include: addiction, anxiety, anger management, PTSD, dissociation, depression, relationships, sexuality, identity, those relating to LGBT and Indigenous populations, and matters pertaining men’s wellness.
Though I do not restrict myself to any single therapeutic modality, those that influence my work are attachment and psychodynamic perspectives, emotion-focused therapy, cognitive-behavioural strategies, and somatic techniques. I incorporate elements of compassion-focused therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), schema therapy, and mindfulness.
I have completed specialized training in Childhood Emotional Neglect (CEN) with Dr. Jonice Webb, (an American psychologist who identified the term) and in 2023, I became a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP).
I have previously been a provider to national and local EAP services and served as a Board Member with the Centre for Treatment of Sexual Abuse and Childhood Trauma. My work experience has included involvement with a number of Ottawa-area agencies that include the Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa (YSB), the agency formerly known as The Men’s Project (now Men & Healing), and the Centre for Treatment of Sexual Abuse and Childhood Trauma (CTSACT).
Ultimately, I hope to guide your ability to access your inner strengths, wisdom, and compassion. Working first to establish a safe space is an important step in helping you begin your therapeutic process.

I have worked in Ottawa in the area of brain/mental health since 2008 and in my own practice since 2013. In 2003, I started my studies in Psychology and Criminology at the University of Ottawa. After graduation in 2007, I provided crisis counseling and referral support to male survivors of childhood sexual abuse at Men & Healing, formerly The Men’s Project. Following this, I returned to the University of Ottawa in 2008 to obtain my Masters in Educational Counselling. In 2009, I provided counselling to youth at The Roberts/Smart Centre in residential, secure treatment, and school environments. Upon graduation in 2010, I worked as a Crisis Counsellor with a large employee assistance program (EAP). I opened my private practice in April 2013.
My areas of expertise include working with youth (ages 12-17) with brain/mental health, behavioural, learning and social challenges in such areas as: anger management, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, bullying, family difficulties, healthy relationships, sexuality, self-injurious behaviours, suicidal ideation, substance use, PTSD, and ADHD.
I also work with adults in various areas such as: anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationship concerns, separation/divorce, grief/loss, parenting support, PTSD, and work-related concerns.
I aim to create a warm, safe and mutually respectful environment with my clients. I enjoy working collaboratively with clients using an integrative and eclectic approach tailored to the client’s goals pulling from therapeutic modalities and perspectives such as: psychoanalytic theory, attachment theory, cognitive behavioural therapy, compassion-focused therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness, the bio-psycho-social model, and family systems among others. Most recently, I have been trained in Somatic Experiencing (SE). SE is a body-oriented approach to the healing of trauma and other stress disorders.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me directly should you have any questions.
Once a person begins to live their authentic self, true happiness and fulfillment in all areas is possible.
